Get Your bags on son!

He put them on and hasn't taken them off since.

John comes from a large family and one day when he was 13 his father looked at him and said, "Get your bags on son, time to learn a trade". And it has sky rocketed from there. Being born and raised in northern Wisconsin the "trade" meant, you had to learn every aspect of building from painting, pouring concrete, laying tile; building from the ground up. John has incorporated all of this knowledge in the beautiful homes he builds. And if he came across something he wasn't to sure about, he was never afraid to call someone who was an expert at it and learn. He believes you never stop learning about building, something new is always right around the corner.

After his father semi-retired John decided to go on his own. He formed Quality Construction back home in Tomahawk Wisconsin. But his wife had bigger and better ideas and soon they were off to Colorado in 1993. It wasn't long before he had his own decking company and was probably the first to use the Trex product. But, home building was in his blood and soon was granted his first construction loan to do his first spec home.

In 1996 he bought his first piece of dirt for a whopping $23,000 and paid cash! During the constuction of his spec he kept his deck building company going and his wife worked for a soils and engineering company. Every night after work and every weekend they worked on their spec home and it was not long after the 1800sq ft home was finished it sold.

It wasn't long before his houses got bigger and better. His last big project was buying a four, ten acre parcel subdivision and built amazing estate  homes from $750,000 up to 1mil. That was a huge learning and risk taking curve for John. Everyone in that town waited for him to fail, saying it was too large for Elizabeth, Colorado. That only strengthened his resolve and he showed them how good he really was. To the surprise of realtors and competing builders he sold all of his homes and for the price he wanted.

John strives to make each home he builds better and better. He gets excited about the out-come, wanting to see the finished product. Working with and making his clients happy is number one. So he wants to make sure everyone is on the same page and if not, he will tell you nicely to find another builder.

He is an artist and his wife is also, and has been the driving force behind some of the innovative designs of the homes. They make a great pair! He is not afraid of challenges and meets them with enthusiasm. The more excited the home owner gets, the more excited he gets. You will see him on the job daily for he IS Garrou Construction.

John never wanted to become a huge corporation because he believes you loose quality control. Each of his homes has his name on it and he wants to make sure that his name stays in good standing.

On his off hours.

John and his wife love to volunteer when they have time! They helped the D.O.W. with the sheep roundup so they could tag, sample, and innoculate. The also helped a couple years with the National Turkey Federation Spring banquets.
